Thesis: Interactive Visualization of video quality metrics databases
In the context of the research activities of the Internet Media Group, we are looking for a master thesis student with strong interests in frameworks for data visualization over the web in order to create dynamic interactive representations of the information included in databases with objective quality metrics, such as the ones described here. Tools such as D3.js, Google charts, Google Public data tools and similar technologies will be considered. Data is available in simple .csv files, the challenging aspect being visualizing and selecting hundreds of thousands or millions of data with reasonable interactivity.
Requirements:
- Good knowledge of Javascript
- Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., python, bash, or other) for easier data preprocessing

Nell’ambito delle attività di ricerca dell’Internet Media Group, si ricerca uno studente interessato a frameworks per la visualizzazione di dati sul web che consentano di creare rappresentazioni interattive e dinamiche delle informazioni contenute in databases di metriche di qualità oggettive, come quello descritto qui. Si prenderanno in considerazioni strumenti quali D3.js, Google charts, Google Public data tools e tecnologie simili. I dati sono già disponibili sotto forma di semplici files .csv (comma separated values), in forma tabellare. L’aspetto innovativo della tesi riguarda il tentativo di rendere questi dati visualizzabili e selezionabili in modo interattivo quando i singoli elementi sono centinaia di migliaia se non milioni.
Requisiti :
- Buona conoscenza di Javascript
- Conoscenza di linguaggi di scripting (es. python, bash o altro) per effettuare un semplice preprocessamento dei dati
